A Introduction to Ian MacKenzie
For the last 20 years, I’ve been a filmmaker & photographer who has tracked the emergence of a new planetary culture. I’ve travelled the world encountering & amplifying leaders, wisdom-keepers, and activists that are pollinating the emerging paradigm.
I’ve produced numerous short films & documentaries, including Sacred Economics & Lost Nation Road. I’ve co-produced Occupy Love and co-directed Amplify Her. And I co-directed The Village of Lovers about the radical research community of Tamera in Portugal.
Along the way I’ve been fascinated by traversing the edges of culture, from the desert of Burning Man to the heart of Occupy Wall St. I’ve studied a decade of village-mindedness with the Orphan Wisdom School and acquired the relational skills of Council, NVC, and Forum.
In the realms of love, I’ve been married and divorced. I’ve also practiced monogamy and polyamory, and have witnessed the benefits and blindspots of both.
Along the way, I’ve also become a father, an initiation that continues to unfold.
A few years ago, I created The Mythic Masculine to realign masculinity with thriving life. This mission has expanded from a podcast to now include men’s immersions, one-on-one mentorship, as well as online courses and a private community.
I’ve taken up the torch from the previous generation of mythopoetic men’s work to expand the terrain with ritual, somatics, and pathways into cultural regeneration. Because at the end of the day, ‘personal growth’ is important insofar as it leads individually and collectively towards conscious engagement with the crises of our times.
If you’re a man looking to ignite your mind & heart to a grander sense of purpose & aliveness, (the Big Story, as my teacher would say) then reach out.
All others are welcome to tune into The Mythic Masculine podcast, available on all major platforms. My catalogue of films & essays and poetry are available on my other website.
